Regionalism and Religiosity

Two maps. First, a map of the United States where each county is colored according to which Christian denomination has the most followers there. Second, a map in which each county is colored according ancestry reported in the census.

Ancestry

Kind of interesting to see where they overlap and where they don’t. I’m a little surprised at how many counties are dominated by people of Germanic ancestry, including most of Florida! I also find it curious that they did not include “Hawaiian” or “Cuban” in the census. I assume those two ancestries account for the “other” labels in Hawaii and Miami-Dade county, respectively.
