Stevey’s Blog Rants: Code’s Worst Enemy

An essay about code bloat:

Bigger is just something you have to live with in Java. Growth is a fact of life. Java is like a variant of the game of Tetris in which none of the pieces can fill gaps created by the other pieces, so all you can do is pile them up endlessly.

At work right now we are in the process of evaluating various giant bodies of open source code to determine which best meets our needs as a jumping off point for our project. It is a process that is as fun as it sounds.
